For over 20 years, ESIP meetings have brought together the most innovative thinkers and leaders around Earth science data, forming a community dedicated to making Earth science data more discoverable, accessible and useful to researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the public. The theme of the July meeting is "Data for All People: From Generation to Use and Understanding."

Stephen Richard is an independent contractor working from Tucson Arizona. He is currently involved in projects to implement a Geoscience ontology for the Loop3D project, the Technical Team for the EarthCube Office, and applications of geoscience vocabularies in AI applications. Interests include tectonics, geochronology, interoperable network services for geoscience information, use of standardized metadata to streamline data discovery and evaluation. Interests include geologic mapping and knowledge representation, development of interchange formats for geoscience for information interchange (e.g. GeoSciML), implementation of ISO standards, schema.org and other metadata schemes for resource documentation, and development of geoscience vocabularies.
