For over 20 years, ESIP meetings have brought together the most innovative thinkers and leaders around Earth science data, forming a community dedicated to making Earth science data more discoverable, accessible and useful to researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the public. The theme of the July meeting is "Data for All People: From Generation to Use and Understanding."

Rob currently serves as Deputy Director of Cyberinfrastructure at the Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) Data Management Center (DMC) in Seattle, WA. His responsibilities include management of software development and data services activities as well as leading efforts to continually improve and expand the accessibility of a peta-scale data archive to the global scientific community. Rob has worked at IRIS for 28 years in many different capacities and has developed software to author seismic metadata, discover data for earthquakes, and federate bulk data requests to international data facilities. Rob currently serves in leadership roles in a joint infrastructural migration to the cloud with UNAVCO and is one of the leads in the expanded use of identity management for scientific data access. Rob graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering.
